I would like to take this time to introduce myself. My name is Angie Swaroop and I started managing the Snack Shack in the middle of the 2019 season. I have two children (Andrew and Abigail) in the district and my husband is a coach and Board Member. We are very involved in our town, and love to give back to this amazing community we live in. Being a part of the Snack Shack and the Little League brings me joy and wish you all a wonderful, fun, safe season. Below is some information pertaining to the Shack, please take the time to review and I look forward to seeing you around this season.
What is the Snack Shack?
A major part of the TFLL is the Snack Shack. It is a great way for families to buy refreshments and meals during game time. The profits from the Snack Shack also provide additional revenue for the TFLL to help give back to the kids/teams. The Snack Shack is a wonderful convenience that offers busy and overwhelmed parents a place where they can get their children or themselves food on game days and not have to worry about what to make for dinner after an already long day. In addition, the kids LOVE having a place to go buy their drinks, candy, food, snack and SLUSHYS!
How is the Snack Shack “Staffed”?
The Snack Shack is ultimately run by me as the Coordinator. I really rely on those parents who volunteer to help during the games and this year I would like to really develop a team of a few people who are willing to help me open/close the Snack Shack certain days and times that I may have a prior commitment. There are two factors with the Snack Shack, there is someone opening/closing the shack and then there is working it during the game. You will be receiving a Sign-up Genius for those of you who would like to volunteer your time during the games your child may be playing in. Ultimately, it is your team manager that is responsible for getting two parents from their team to volunteer for their appropriate hour. The away team staffs the shack the first hour and the home team staffs the shack the second hour. Two ADULTS are needed for each hour. The Snack Shack only opens during games that are held at Hock 1 (this is the field directly outside the Snack Shack, so it is easy to also watch your child play while you work). Volunteering your time is very important and is greatly appreciated. Not only do you work off your work bond (2 hours volunteer time for 1 child in Rookies, Minors or Majors and 4 hours volunteer time for more than 1 child), but you get to be involved in giving back and seeing these amazing kids who run up to the window with such excitement to buy their favorite item. Please know that I appreciate the time you put in and I am really hoping that this year a lot of parents will volunteer to help. If you would like to help with the opening/closing of the shack, I am looking for two additional people for that portion. You can email me at email@example.com or call me at 732-693-7740.
I have never worked at the Snack Shack; how will I know what to do?
I know the idea of volunteering at the Snack Shack can seem a bit overwhelming for families who are new or have never done anything like this before. However, we try and make it enjoyable and stress free by providing menus with pricing and written guidance/instructions, as well as contact information for myself, so I can always be reached if there is a question.
Although your time and volunteering are extremely appreciated, we ask that if you, someone in your household, or someone who you have been in contact with have any symptoms of Covid-19 please do not show up for your scheduled volunteer time. Please call me on my cell and I will arrange for coverage. The health and wellbeing of all are what is most important, so I would greatly appreciate everyone’s cooperation on this matter.
I appreciate your time going over this information, and I look forward to seeing familiar and new faces this season. We are looking forward to an amazing season and doing what Tinton Falls does best, which is community, teamwork, kindness and fun!
Be Well and Thank you,
