2020 Season Canceled

Hello TFLL Family –

Thank you for your patience during the past few months as we waited to see how things developed.

Regretfully, after much discussion and consideration, the Board has decided to cancel our 2020 season.

This decision did not come easy. We fully intended to put some sort of season together for the over 300 kids that registered and provide them with a source of much needed social interaction. While the state begins to reopen and guidance from public health officials on how youth sports can safely resume is being developed, we have simply run out of time to put a season together for the summer.

With this announcement, our focus will now turn to providing refunds to our families. Like so many families and businesses in our community, TFLL is not immune to the financial impact of this pandemic. Unfortunately, the league purchased all of our equipment and uniforms just before the lockdown started back in March. In addition, the cancellation of the season means we lose out on income from our snack shack and Lakewood Blueclaws fundraiser that we rely on to help offset league expenses.

With this in mind, we are offering two options with regards to refunds.

  • Option 1 – Rollover the 2020 registration fee to the 2021 season. For families that paid a work bond, this will also be rolled over into the 2021 season as well.
  • Option 2 – Request a refund of the 2020 registration fee, minus a $25 charge per player registration. For families that paid a work bond, this will be fully returned.

Our hope is many of you will rollover your registration to next year and join us for what will no doubt be a highly anticipated baseball and softball season. For those who wish to receive a refund, the nominal charge will help the league cover expenses including credit card transaction fees, insurance premiums, little league charter dues, and other expenses that are associated with running our league.

An email will be sent to each family that will allow you to select your refund option. We ask that you please be patient with us, this is a completely manual process that we must go through, and there are over 300 families we have to process. Our volunteer Board will begin work on this immediately, and will process your request as quickly as possible once it is received.

For those of you that purchased items from our Online Store, we will be in touch separately to coordinate the pick up of your items from Athlete’s Alley.

This has been an incredibly trying time for our community, and we are disappointed that baseball and softball won’t be a part of the comeback this summer. Rest assured that our Board is already putting together plans for what will be a memorable 2021 season, and we can’t wait to see the fields full of kids playing what we think is the greatest sport around.
